INTERESTING FACTS

1. Crystal Formation

Most Paraiba tourmaline crystals form as thin, delicate structures that frequently contain inclusions and colour zoning.

2. Size and Clarity

Because of these natural features, faceted Paraiba tourmalines with high clarity and uniform colour are usually under two carats, making larger, clean stones exceptionally rare and valuable.

3. Multicolour Potential

Like all tourmalines, Paraiba tourmaline can be multicoloured, displaying breathtaking blends of neon green, electric blue, and vibrant violet.

4. Visual Appeal

These vivid, glowing colour combinations make Paraiba tourmaline one of the most visually striking and collectible gemstones in the world.

Paraiba Tourmaline

Paraiba Tourmaline is an exceptionally rare and highly sought after variety of Elbaite tourmaline, prized for its vivid, electric colours and copper-bearing composition. This unique gemstone contains trace amounts of copper and manganese ions within its crystal structure, creating an extraordinary range of hues from striking magenta and violet tones to the signature electric blues and neon greens that define authentic Paraiba Tourmaline gemstones. Its unparalleled brilliance and rarity make Paraiba Tourmaline one of the most valuable and collectible gemstones in the world.

Paraiba Tourmaline was first discovered in the Batalha Mine, Paraíba, Brazil, famed for its vivid electric blue and neon green hues. Later, similar Cuprian Tourmalines were found in Mozambique and Nigeria, often larger and clearer but generally less saturated than the original Brazilian stones. A rare find in Mavuco, Mozambique, however, produced gems with exceptional color intensity. Madagascar has also yielded a few Cuprian Fluor-Liddicoatite crystals visually similar to Paraiba Tourmaline, highlighting the gemstone’s limited yet global distribution.
